Having sex with an HIV-positive partner

Is it possible to test negative if I had sex with an individual that is HIV positive?

Yes, if you used proper protection and if the partner is on treatment this will reduce the risks of you getting the infection. If you had unprotected sex and your partner’s viral load is not zero, there is a higher risk of infection. Testing negative after being in contact with HIV is possible. Having sex with an HIV-positive partner could be risky if they are not undergoing treatment and are not aware of their HIV status.
